| Dorothy Morris passed away from congestive heart failure at a Palm Springs hospital on November 20, 2011. Dorothy actually predeceased Caren and her death was unknown until now as there wasn't much obituaries circulating the Internet and other entertainment sites. Dorothy Morris was born on February 23, 1922 in Los Angeles, CA and was raised in a well to do Methodist family. She graduated from Hollywood High School in June 1940 and began training as an actress under the instruction of Maria Ouspenskaya. She trained for the female lead in The Courtship of Andy Hardy and despite a successful screentest she lost the role to Donna Reed. She later had successful turns in such films as Our Vines Have Tender Grapes (1945), 'Cry' Havoc (1943), The Human Comedy (1943), None Shall Escape (1943), Rationing (1944), and Main Street After Dark (1945). She also is remembered for her extensive work in MGM's Pete Smith and Crime Does Not Pay series. After her 1943 marriage to Marvin Moffie she took a brief break from film making to play wife and mother. She divorced Moffie in 1966 and in 1969 married a reverand by the name of Roger E. Miller but divorced him in 1972. Between the 1950s and 1970s she appeared in numerous television programs such as Rawhide, The Donna Reed Show, Casey Jones, Marcus Welby, M.D., and The Untouchables. She retiered from acting in 1971 and spent the remainder of her life active in the Methodist church, Republican politics, and community services. She lived in Palm Springs, CA from 2004 until her death. Following funeral services at the Palm Springs United Methodist Community Church she was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cathedral City. She was 89 years old. |
